Krav Maga Global (KMG) is the largest and most recognized Krav Maga organization in the world. It was founded in 2010 by Eyal Yanilov, the appointed successor of the system's founder, Imi Lichtenfeld. Today KMG's curriculum is taught in more than sixty countries: to civilians, children and women, as well as to law-enforcement and military units. Krav Maga Újbuda is a member of KMG, so with us you learn the same Krav Maga as in any KMG club in the world.
Why was KMG founded?
The International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) was created in the 1990s by Imi Lichtenfeld and Eyal Yanilov, and for years it was the largest Krav Maga organization. At the national level it worked well until the late 2000s, but at the international level cooperation and the flow of information became more and more cumbersome, and this could no longer be changed within the federation. That is why Eyal Yanilov founded Krav Maga Global (KMG) in 2010, so that the system could keep developing in a unified way, in line with the demands of the times.
Eyal Yanilov
Eyal Yanilov was born in 1959 and started learning Krav Maga in 1974. He quickly stood out among his peers and became one of the closest students, and the right-hand man, of Krav Maga's founder, Imi Lichtenfeld. Together they wrote the official Krav Maga manual, and Imi appointed him chief instructor of the system. From the 1980s Eyal taught Krav Maga to the military, law-enforcement and civilian sectors in many countries of North America and Europe; he is the only person to have received the highest grade, Master 3 (Expert 8), from Imi. He is still KMG's chief instructor and holds seminars around the world several times a year, in Budapest too. You can read much more about him in The history of Krav Maga.
What does this mean for you if you train with us?
- A unified curriculum. KMG's curriculum is built the same way in Tel Aviv, London and Budapest. If you move or travel, you can carry on where you left off in any KMG club.
- Internationally recognized levels. The knowledge is divided into levels that build on each other (Practitioner, Graduate, Expert), and the exams are held by KMG examiners. The grade you earn is valid in every KMG club in the world.
- Qualified instructors. Only those who have completed the organization's instructor course of several weeks, and who regularly attend the mandatory update courses, can be KMG instructors. Our instructor qualified in 2014, has since reached Expert 2, and has also completed KMG's Kids and Combat & Fighting instructor courses; you can read about this on the About page.
- Seminars in Budapest. Eyal Yanilov and members of KMG's international team of instructors hold update courses and open seminars in Budapest every year, which our members can attend too. So you can train not only with your instructor but also with the best of the system.
- A system that keeps evolving. KMG does not keep Imi's techniques as museum pieces but adapts them to today's threats and to the abilities of today's people. What you hear in our classes is the current state of the system.

Krav Maga Global operates successfully in Israel, in most member states of the European Union, in Central and Eastern Europe, North and South America, Australia, South-East Asia and the Far East.
